LeAnn Cheri - Film Crew

LeAnn Cheri officially started her film career in 2006.  Her skills range from Directing, Writing, and Producing short films and a music video for MTV to working as an On Set Dresser on feature films.  She began taking acting lessons because she was originally interested in working as an actor.   She spent a few days working as a background actor on the hit movie Armageddon in 1998, and was immediately hooked.  Unfortunately at that time she had no way to pursue her aspirations.  While she continued to work as an Accountant for almost 20 years, she took classes to learn more about tv and film through a local community college.  Even though the dream seemed far from her grasp, it still was in her heart to one day work in film.

Upon moving to NC in 2006, she soon found there was a huge film market in Wilmington, NC.  She began to work on the weekends helping anyone she could with their projects to gain set experience and film connections.  She also auditioned for a few things and landed some small roles on various productions and tv shows.  However, she soon found her real interest was actually in film making.  She considers herself an "old soul" because she loves movies from her parent's time and prior, dating back to the 1940's - 1960's.  She has said,"The people and their lifestyles were so interesting, and the actors/actresses were just amazing."  Although she loves to indulge in many genres overall, she feels strongly about wanting to bring family/faith-based films to the market.

To her complete surprise, in 2008 she won the Spirit Award at the Cape Fear Independent Film Festival in Wilmington, NC.  She developed and has sponsored for several years her newly created family/faith-based block since 2008.  She has been passionate about bringing a "message" to the public through introducing real life situations and even some personal situations through her writing.

To date she has written 4 short films, and directed 3 of them.  She recently wrote a music video for EGR Music that is going to appear on MTV.  She has worked as an on set dresser on almost 5 feature films, and loves working closely with the Director.  She definitely has the aspiration to direct feature films some day.

She finished the Film Program at Valencia College in Orlando, FL under the training of an extremely talented DGA Director, Ralph Clemente.  He brought a total of 50 feature films to Valencia for the students to gain real set experience.  His passion overflowed to all of his students, that is clearly expressed on his Facebook page due to his recent passing.  Learning from him was an experience she will never forget!  She shadowed him on one of the feature films he was directing in the summer of 2013.  He taught her to be respectful, prepared, to work hard and to be in film because you love it!

She has written a feature film that she plans to produce in the future.  It is a feature film based on her first short film, called Whispers.  It was a film about a young woman surrounded by unsettling whispers.

She continues to study and read about directing techniques whenever she is not on set working.  She is currently working on a new music video and has been told she is going to be hired to write more treatments and to possibly work as the director in the very near future.
